Bold statement? I don't think so, I think this group of guys will strike fear in the hearts of QBs and receivers this Fall. There's not the depth of last year, but there's plenty of talent. Here's a list of the 2010 corner and safety positions.

28- Demarcus Milliner 6-1 182, FR
CB 9- Phelon Jones 5-11, 199, JR
CB 21- Dre Kirkpatrick 6-3, 190 SO
10- John Fulton 6-0, 179, FR
S 4- Mark Barron 6-2, 210 JR
S 18- Rod Woodson 5-11, 199 SO
S 37- Robert Lester 6-2, 206, SO
Mark Barron is the anchor in the secondary, and he is by no means second to anyone in the SEC. This is a fierce competitor, and ball hawker. He plays the run well and is a sure tackler. Mark had 89 tackles and 7 Ints last year (the most in the SEC in 2009)! Look for him to be the leader and signal caller this year in the secondary.
Dre Kirkpatrick......very talented! Fast, tall, will hit you....HARD! Here's a youngster that has a real shot at being something special this year at corner. His experience is limited, but any lack in that dept. will soon diminish. He will be a starter before it's all said and done, and he will be feared in the SEC as one of the best corners to come along in a while.
Robert Lester is another player with limited playing time, but he has shown that he is more than capable of being a fine safety. Robert led all players in the A-Day scrimmage with 8 tackles. These younger guys will improve as the season moves forward.
After spending his first year on campus as a wide receiver, B.J. Scott made the move to the defensive side of the football prior to spring practice in 2009 ... the sophomore will learn the cornerback position as he works to earn playing time as a sophomore in the defensive backfield ... has excellent speed and quickness ... has played in nine career games at wide receiver at the Capstone.
Does DeMarcus Milliner win that job as a freshman? The kid is without a doubt a player to watch early for the Tide in early games. His talent will be tested early by Nick Saban, and that's a good thing. Maybe before the meat of the schedule he will be more accustomed to Saban's intricate defensive schemes.
Rod Woodson is another one of those players that will be part of Saban's revolving door in the secondary until there's clear cut starters on the field. Rod brings a physical style of play to the secondary in Tuscaloosa. He was a super prep All-American coming out of high school, ranked by some magizines as the #21 DB nationally.
